Abstract
Argues that 'conscious' music has made a significant re-emergence with the pre-eminence of Rasta influence in its ideology and imaging. Contends that the rash of revelations of a Rasta faith include the dramatic shifts in a number of leading artista and deejays both in their personal lives and transformation of their lyrics. In some quarters this movement has raised questions as to the authenticity of some conversions; there are suspicions of fads capitalizing on the currency of Rasta and religion for mileage in the competitive arena of dancehall, with its constant demands for novelty and regeneration.....
