Abstract
Critique of article written by Downes and Le Franc who examined the importance of socio-economic forces in human development in Jamaica. Suggested that the article fell short of offering a superior explanatory framework within which to compare international experiences and the Jamaican case. Makes an alternative suggestion that the Jamaican economy should be looked at in an encompassing manner and that the 'Dutch Disease' theory would offer a more holistic and coherent framework within which to analyse the Jamaican economy.....
