Abstract
Reconsidering a slave rising in rural Jamaica shows not only what prompted a revolt that occurred among recently landed Coromantee, five years after Tackey's revolt had raised the enslaved Coromantee in same parish, but also identified a more widely planned plot developed among other enslaved Coromantee, some of whom had been resident much longer. What were their goals? Analysing the planters' shifting responses to this rising shows which issues worried them too.....
